Happy St. Valentine's Day
Here's a lovely toy theatre with candy and hearts from Clive Hicks-Jenkins, produced by the famous Benjamin Pollock's Toyshop. (Just watch out for the witch!)

I was surprised, this morning, to find that Sts. Cyril and Methodius have stepped in front of St. Valentine: https://dc20011.blogspot.com/2019/02/feasts.html . I don't suppose that the card, chocolate, and flower industries would find "Cyril and Methodius Day" to have quite the correct ring.
ReplyDeleteHah! I suppose they don't think he is historical, then... But see if you can get the ball rolling for Cyril and Methodius Day!
DeleteYou know, we saw a lovely glass and gold coffin last year, and inside--it was claimed--was the body of St. Valentine. I can't remember which cathedral it was. Prague or Vienna or Salzburg? So we may think he's mythical, but they think they have him, right down to his ornate red booties!
