Seek Giacometti’s “The Palace at 4 a.m.” Go back two hours. See towers and curtain walls of matchsticks, marble, marbles, light, cloud at stasis. Walk in. The beggar queen is dreaming on her throne of words…You have arrived at the web home of Marly Youmans, maker of novels, poetry collections, and stories, as well as the occasional fantasy for younger readers.

Alas, I must once again remind large numbers of Chinese salesmen and other worldwide peddlers that if they fall into the Gulf of Spam, they will be eaten by roaming Balrogs. The rest of you, lovers of grace, poetry, and horses (nod to Yeats--you do not have to be fond of horses), feel free to leave fascinating missives and curious arguments.

The eight worst sentences in Dan Brown's Inferno
ReplyDelete20 worst sentences in Dan Brown's books
Hi! I understand this is somewhat off-topic but I had to ask. Does managing a well-established blog like yours take a lot of work? I'm completely new to running a blog however I do write in my journal on a daily basis. I'd like to start a blog so I can easily share my personal experience and thoughts online. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or tips for brand new aspiring bloggers. Appreciate it!
ReplyDeleteJust replace the journal with the blog, I guess...
ReplyDelete"Personal experience and thoughts," you say. I don't know your age or what your life is like, so I imagine the main thing is to consider who the blog is for (mine is primarily in service of books, including mine, and so I don't talk about many things that concern me that lie basically outside that realm) and also what your goals are (what is the blog's purpose, and what should it include and exclude?) Fiddle around and make a blog page that invites the audience and goes with the goals. That's it in a nutshell. Feel free to ask another question, as I don't know if I answered anything--you went to spam, but I fished you out, so that may happen again and delay a reply.
