Mole notes
Poet Dale Favier has been reading A Death at the White Camellia Orphanage and making notes about it as he goes on his blog, mole. Now he has put all the comments together as a lovely fat Amazon note. I enjoyed reading it very much!

Alas, I must once again remind large numbers of Chinese salesmen and other worldwide peddlers that if they fall into the Gulf of Spam, they will be eaten by roaming Balrogs. The rest of you, lovers of grace, poetry, and horses (nod to Yeats--you do not have to be fond of horses), feel free to leave fascinating missives and curious arguments.
Yes, I have been following Dale's notes on his blog, but with caution as I always do because I want to be sure to read the book first, or at least the relevant chapters. His notes are so very good, as are the other comments at Amazon which I just read. I agree wholeheartedly with them all, I don't think I could say it better. I remember thinking that Pip might have Asperger's (I know someone with it), and I see others thought so too.
ReplyDeleteBravo, Marly, it is a marvelous book with beautiful language that made me read it slowly yet eagerly awaiting what will happen next in the story. I love the characters and characterization. It could be a far longer story but you have kept it lean yet rich. I did not want it to end. Will be reading it again.
Marja-Leena,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for that! I am glad you enjoyed it enough to be planning a reread. Rereading is the best reading...
