Seek Giacometti’s “The Palace at 4 a.m.” Go back two hours. See towers and curtain walls of matchsticks, marble, marbles, light, cloud at stasis. Walk in. The beggar queen is dreaming on her throne of words…You have arrived at the web home of Marly Youmans, maker of novels, poetry collections, and stories, as well as the occasional fantasy for younger readers.

One of those days

Alas, I must once again remind large numbers of Chinese salesmen and other worldwide peddlers that if they fall into the Gulf of Spam, they will be eaten by roaming Balrogs. The rest of you, lovers of grace, poetry, and horses (nod to Yeats--you do not have to be fond of horses), feel free to leave fascinating missives and curious arguments.
I love your imaginative catalogue of disasters. I hope none of them or any more ordinary ones either befall you. Enjoy your day and say hi to Yolanda!
ReplyDeleteOuch, sounds like a bad day indeed. Hope it all got better when spending it with your friend.
ReplyDeleteActually in keeping with the rest, this was to go up before lunch but didn't. The five of us went out to dinner at a Mexican restaurant in Oneonta... Too much food, but no accidents.
ReplyDeleteYay for that!
Glad to hear that you got to the end of the day with no more accidents. Accidents usually come when we're clumsy with tiredness, so please heed the warning dear friend and try to get some rest.
ReplyDeleteSeriously!!!
Yawn. You may be right, Clive! Struck by insomnia at 2:50 this morning, though. Why? Wrestling and much else today...
ReplyDeleteGlad the day didn't turn out to be as bad as you feared.
ReplyDeleteMarly, I like the possible accidents that you list. Those keep the boring-blah-blahs away from any day. :)
ReplyDeleteYO
Miss Yo-Yo,
ReplyDeleteI must leave for wrestling meet. Who knows what could happen on the way?
Robbi, missed your comment--yes, I seem to be surviving. Sleep helped, no doubt.
ReplyDeletehope its all better now!
ReplyDeleteBetter but busy! I suspect I won't have a scrap of extra time until two out of three go back to college...
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you'll miss them
ReplyDeleteDefinitely.
