Sally Jo Hance

Here is Sally Jo Hance, my maternal great-grandmother, at the age of 9. Despite losing her father at Gettysburg and having a mother with a pack of little girls to raise, she looks very fine here, with her be-ribboned dress and ringlets, all gone to sepia.

For Sally Jo Hance Arnold in old age, scroll down several posts...

  2. And scrolling down to the Sally Jo as an elder photo--my, you do come from a line of beautiful and strong women, don't you? And I love the careful ringlets in this photo.

Alas, I must once again remind large numbers of Chinese salesmen and other worldwide peddlers that if they fall into the Gulf of Spam, they will be eaten by roaming Balrogs. The rest of you, lovers of grace, poetry, and horses (nod to Yeats--you do not have to be fond of horses), feel free to leave fascinating missives and curious arguments.
